This workshop is for anyone wanting to further their knowledge of indigenous gardening and create habitat gardens for birds and butterflies. You should have good exsisting knowledge of indigenous gardening or have done our intro to indigenous gardening.

Course Description

The course will cover:

Knowledge

  • Get to know some of the birds and butterflies common in your area
  • What different birds and butterflies eat, where they live and what plants you need to attract them into your yard
  • Creating a safe-haven for changing seasons and life-cycles for your winged visitors
  • How easy it can be to create habitat in a variety of yard-sizes
  • How you can provide  vital ecological assistance for our native bird and butterfly species – right in your backyard
  • The important local pollinators you can support with a beautiful, low maintenance garden

  • Class sizes are capped at 16 people to ensure quality learning & engagement

Learning doesn’t stop when our workshops stop. We have created a Workshop Members Portal that will give all workshop participants access to the resources we refer to, including weblinks and files. You can come back at any time and refresh your knowledge or take a deep dive into the content

Trainer Profile

Sarah Bourns, Ecoskills & Conservation Collective

Sarah has been working in the conservation industry for over two decades and has gained a broad range of skills, knowledge, and experience. She has held roles as a Ranger, Environment Officer, Consultant, Bushland Contractor, and Indigenous Nursery Manager. Sarah has extensive knowledge of indigenous plants, their propagation, and their use in restoring degraded landscapes. As a consultant, she used her diplomas in Conservation & Land Management and Organic Agriculture to help farmers plan and implement Conservation Farm Plans.

Sarah is passionate about sharing her knowledge and helping others benefit from habitat restoration. When she’s not training, Sarah works for Conservation Collective Indigenous Plant Nursery.
