Gain practical experience and develop conservation knowledge:

* Recognise plants and animals

* Plant propagation

* Working safely

* Applying herbicides under supervision

* Treating a range of weeds

* Using a GPS and reporting on plants and animals

* Operating basic machinery & equipment

* Understanding soils & degrading factors

* Performing basic ecological restoration works

* Understanding the weather and how it impacts works

Successful completion of the qualification can lead to careers in the following roles:

Ecological restoration trainee or assistant, bush crew, nursery team member

To successfully complete this qualification, students are required to complete the following Core and selected Elective Units of Competency to gain their Qualification in AHC21024 Certificate II in Conservation and Ecosystem Management

This qualification is delivered over a period of 6 months to 2 years. The length of time to complete this qualification will depend on the location and study mode.

School based – one day/week, completed in 24 months

Other – two days/week, completed in 6 months

No classes in Victorian School holiday periods

Students are required to complete a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment prior to finalising enrollment.

Students will be required to meet a minimum of physical performance requirements to successfully complete the practical tasks such as, carrying up to 10kg, kneeling on the ground for long periods of time and extensive walking.
